promise. He couldn’t wipe out his past and make himself righteous; he couldn’t live the rest of his life in perfect harmony with God’s will. So God gave the believing Abraham a righteousness which he had not earned, which he could not earn. Faith, and faith alone, established Abraham’s saving relationship with the Lord. The Abrahamic covenant was never changed or altered (Galatians 3:17). In Galatians, the apostle Paul points out that the Law, “which was [added] four hundred and thirty years later,
